Expedition Nature group show and solo show by Karin Bos at CODA Museum

Expedition Nature starts with a solo show of a selection of my work, focussing on the landscape, man in relationship to nature. For this I did several travels and artist-in-residency projects abroad.
The accompanying group show I composed is also about the landscape and travelling, how artists find inspiration outside their studios. Sometimes they work together, so the opening wall of the show is the result of a joint project I performed together with Erik Wuthrich.
In the first space some of my paintings hang next to paintings by Jochem op ten Noort, because we exchanged our source material: the photos I took while travelling through Spain were used by him as well as by me to create new paintings.

The installation Travel Agent is the result of two journeys that Karin Bos and Erik Wuthrich made together. On one of those, they followed the river Duero/Douro through Spain and Portugal, with the artists drawing water from the river at its spring and at the place where it flows into the ocean. Back in the Netherlands, Bos and Wuthrich collaborated on six blown glass objects, made by them at the National Glass Museum Leerdam. Three of these were filled with the spring water (the three top ones on the wall), and three with the water they bottled at the end of the river (the three lower ones on the wall). The photo in the background was taken at the Dettifoss waterfall of the Jökulsá river that they followed while travelling through Iceland.

Travel Agent travels on: from April 14th 2018 until June 17th 2018 a smaller version is on view at Kunstverein Springhornhof in Neuenkirchen, Germany as part of the group show Expedition Natur curated by Karin Bos.

Travel Agent travels back to home: An alternative version is on view at Museum CAB in Burgos in Spain, which is very near the well of the river Duero, the original source of the installation. It is part of the exhibition 'Karin Bos, Los ojos del extranjero - Expedicion naturaleza' which is on view from February 7 until September 20 2020.
